DAIRY SERVICES

 Cows

 Terri's Cow

Given our rural setting and number of years as an established practice, Whitehall Veterinary Service has a wealth of experience working with dairy animals. We offer a complete range of services for dairy health and reproduction including 24/7 emergency service for your convenience. We provide ambulatory service to dairies within a 30 mile radius of Whitehall.

Haul-In Facility

Our haul-in facility provides a safe and clean environment to perform procedures. Because sterile surgery can be done in this clean environment, it can often be done without the use of antibiotics. This avoids residues in meat and allows milk to be sold without interruption.

Herd Health Services

Herd health services include regular visits to your herd to examine open cows and do pregnancy diagnosis. A thorough examination of the uterus and ovaries is performed. Recommendations for treatment and synchronization of estrus are provided.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound for reproduction has many advantages. Pregnancies can be detected as early as 27 days post breeding. Ovaries can be examined for cysts, follicles and corpus luteum aiding in an accurate prediction of the heat cycle. At about 60 days gestation the sex of the fetus can be determined. Ultrasound is a less invasive approach than the traditional rectal palpation.

Embryo Transfer

We offer embryo transfer services to clients interested in reproducing high-quality dairy cattle. This type of selective mating can increase the status of your herd more quickly for increased production or marketing. Dr. Jay Oldendorf has specialized training and experience in embryo transfer. Contact him if you have further questions.

Camelids

Llamas and Alpacas: We see the pet camelids as well as fiber producing animals,  brood stock and show animals.

Pot Bellied Pigs

We do spay and castration surgeries, ultrasounds, as well as recommendations for vaccination and worming.

Emergency Service

Emergency service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call (715) 538-4476.
